Wayward ‘All A Bit Mad’ single
Released: 24th February on Silver Bear Recordings

Wayward drop an explosive taster of their upcoming debut album with a second single sampling the voice of Femi Koleoso, drummer of pioneering London nu jazz band Ezra Collective.

The heady track kicks off to the sampled sounds of a roaring applause - inimitable sounds we’re craving now more than ever. Uplifting from the get go, that applause is chased in by ravey, vigorous drums and enlivening synths, with Femi’s sampled, “Are you ready to party an’ that?” rousing an overspill of euphoria.

Wayward explains - “All A Bit Mad was the first tune we wrote during the lockdown period. Stuck in the house reminiscing about clubbing and thinking about the prospect of no live music for a considerable stretch of time was what inspired it. We’d recently been to see Ezra Collective at The Roundhouse in London and seeing the way that Femi addressed the crowd was more like an MC at a rave than the leader of a jazz band. The energy he created was so impressive that we had the idea to sample his voice. Watching a live stream back from one of their gigs at Ronnie Scotts we picked parts of the vocal we liked and built the beat around it. Thanks to Femi for inspiring this track and bringing this one to life.”
